Lost & Found Pets

If you have lost a pet

  • Search your property thoroughly
  • Walk the neighbourhood, talk to everybody & leave your number
  • Ring local vet clinics and leave your details
  • Visit the local pound (for dogs only) and leave a photo
  • Phone animal shelters
  • Put a notice up in the local shopping centre
  • Post flyers within a 1.5km radius of your house- offer a reward but don’t say how much
  • Advertise in the newspaper
  • Online you can visit Pets of Perth Lost and Found on Facebook, Gumtree, All Creatures Lost and Found and Lost Pet Finders to leave details of your lost pet

If you have found a pet

  • Injured animals or young orphaned animals should be brought to see the veterinarian (every effort should be made to locate the mother first if you suspect an animal to be orphaned)
  • Check the pet for collars and tags
  • Visit your local vet and have the pet scanned for a microchip
  • Walk the neighbourhood, talk to everybody & leave your number, most found pets are owned by neighbours
  • Ring local vet clinics and leave your details
  • Dogs with no identification can be collected by your local council
  • Take care with collecting ‘stray’ cats as they may actually be owned but unidentified. If a cat truly is stray it can be taken to the Cat Haven
  • Online you can visit Pets of Perth Lost and Found on Facebook, Gumtree, All Creatures Lost and Found and Lost Pet Finders to leave your details of the pet you have found
